Hello folks, it has been quiet here in the last months. That’s because I started setting up a new project:

think is a laboratory which cares about responsible design & ideas. So far the website is speaking german only – an english version will be launched later this year. Feel free to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

This blog will move its domain some time in the future, but will stay active and focused on media art and playful interaction. I also set up a new personal twitter account – follow in case you are interested.

Coal crane in a new light

I’m currently working on the software for the following Luminale Installation:
At the new harbour in Offenbach the historical monument of industry coal crane of the EVO power station will be set in scene with an animated illumination. The LED-based lluminations emphasise the construction, retrace it or blur it in the nocturnal context. These illuminations will be opened for Luminale and then continue to shine at night.
Starting this sunday, here.

Today film tip: a documentary about the web, new technologies, social networks and their effects on politics and governments.

“New technologies and a closely related culture of collaboration present radical new models of social organization. This project brings together leading practitioners and thinkers in this field and asks them to determine the opportunity for government.

My tip for watching long films like this: bookmark them in a folder or with a tag like “to watch”, and come back to it when you start thinking of watching tv.

… and so will I? Probably at least a little.
I’m going to India for 4,5 months, starting in August. This will lead to some different content as usual in this blog, feel free to unsubscribe if you’re only interested in my posts about design and technology. You’re more than welcome to stay or start subscribing, if you are interested in some travel reports and more personal things as seen here before.
The travel-posts will be in English and German for the time of the journey, so that also my family can stay up to date this way :) If I continue being successful in convincing, Mirjam will also give us some shouts from time to time, live from her internship at Auroville.

So, what are the plans so far?
Arriving in Mumbai late at night, traveling to Tamil Nadu in two weeks, because Mirjams internship starts there beginning of September. No more detailed plans yet, just some placemarks with interesting things in the south.
I hope I’m going to check some of them out… perhaps I’m also going more north… not sure yet!

Ready for the largest cultural shock in my life :)
